Yes, it's been in a while since I've updated our lowly blog! The cord on my laptop kicked the bucket and have been relying on battery power so my computer time has been limited. So I am waaay behind on reading all my other favourite blogs and on updating ours and I apologize! I write this now on Chris' computer which doesn't have my recent pictures of the girls but at least it's something!
Things have been going pretty good down here. I think the snow is pretty much done making its appearance. We had quite a few big dumps and even the lifers have said that this winter has never been this cold nor have had so much snow. I even almost got stuck in someone's driveway with the wind blowing up huge snow drifts! So we did get a reminder of our Canadian winters! But now the grass is showing and it's brown and there is mud all over our backyard. Spring is on its way!!
I have been a little frustrated with another mom and her child here lately. Her daughter is just a few months older than Brooklyn but they have the hardest time playing together. Brooklyn plays well and shares with every other child but seems to always clash with this little girl. Her mother doesn't get her out to many things where the child can learn to play with other kids and if you watch her with her parents, she gets what she wants. This is bothering me as I feel it starting to strain on my friendship with the mother to the point that I don't want to be at the same places as her which is hard as we go to the same church and the girls go to Sunday School together. This little girl almost bullies Brooklyn. For example, she will chase Brooklyn around the church and Brooklyn tells her to stop but keeps doing it and then will start grabbing and touching Brooklyn just because she knows Brooklyn hates it. Her parents never seem to stop her or disipline her but are quick to see Brooklyn misbehave and get on her. Just a few Sundays ago, the mom called me after church and asked that Brooklyn not sit with them anymore as she's trying to teach her daughter how to behave in church and she said that Brooklyn is too distracting. Now I would agree with this if Brooklyn was but I kept looking over at her and she was sitting there colouring :p If she said that her daughter was distracted by Brooklyn sitting there, that would be one thing but she just kept saying over and over that Brooklyn herself was distracting. It was pretty hurtful to me and I've been frustrated with the whole situation since then. I know Brooklyn has her moments as she is just 4 (they both are) but it's just hard when the mother seems to be oblivious to her own childs "actions". If any of you mothers out there have any thoughts on this, I'd appreciate it!
Anyways, enough of my drama! I've been pretty busy with house cleaning and aerobics and now have decided to run the half-marathon in Las Vegas! It's in December so I figure I should be trained for it if I start now! And I have started training and I'm not ready at all for it but every time I run, it gets a little easier and I go a little further so hopefully by Decemeber....:o)
The girls are doing great. Sports are starting soon for Alyssa so she'll be keeping pretty busy too. I'm sure there's more going on in our lives than this but this it for now! And next time I'll put up some pictures of the girls.
